My family has always put up Rome apples for our winter preserves but this year Sally said you should try MacIntosh apples. She said they would hold up better for pies and apple deserts than the rome.
Rome was my dad's favorite eating apple so we just always seem to find that we had too many and we preserved them so they didn't go to waste. The rome apples were always good but they always turned into delicious sauce but held no texture after freezing. We went to the farmers market to get apples to put up for winter so we got MacIntosh. The MacIntosh tastes great and holds the slices shape so your deserts look like apple deserts.
I am all for preserving any apples that you have too many of so your family has yummy fruit to enjoy in the winter but in this experiment. THe MacIntosh won and Sally was right. Again.
